Realtor and Real Estate expert, Brendon DeSimone (of HGTV, Fox News, CNBC and Forbes), has good advice on why great Real Estate photos are key to a successful listing — essentially creating a great first impression that drives showings & maintaining interest in a property after it has been visited by a potential buyer. The article is written with Home Owners and Real Estate Agents in-mind… for Home Owners, you have one-shot to make a great first impression trying to get your home sold… why would you want to list with poor photos when you can have professional Real Estate photos for as little as $150? For Agents… it is a competitive market place out there, so you need to market the home in its best light so that you get the most amount of interest in the first days and weeks of the listing. Yes, there is a cost of paying for professional real estate photography, but what is the cost of having a listing languish for months and months because you couldn’t convince potential buyers it was worth visiting because the photos were so poor?
DeSimone also suggests that you DO NOT list the home for sale until you have the professional photos, written descriptions etc ready, as you only have a few seconds and one chance at getting the attention of hungry buyers. I wholeheartedly agree with this, but on the other hand, I know some pretty accomplished Agents who prefer to get the listing on the market ASAP rather than wait for everything to be completely ready. Agents, which do you prefer?
